Get ready folks! Although the thermometer appears to have frozen solid, rumor has it that Spring will someday soon be on the way!

And with Spring come (insert drum roll here) the Quilt Hops! Keep checking back and we’ll have some announcements to keep you up to date!

We’d would like to send out a “thank you” to all of my customers! We’ve been in business for almost 9 years now and the majority of our business is from our repeat customers and our referrals from all of you!

As a special value to our repeat customers we’ll give you 10% off on your first order during the month of July (2009) if you simply mention this web posting!

Thank you!

For those of you not able to make the trek to Vermont, we have a more local version of the Quilt Shop Hop here in upstate New York. A number of  stores within a two hour radius of Albany have banded together to offer a similar program. You can find our the store names & locations by visiting their website:  Seventh Annual Quilters’ Quest Shop Hop 2009

Check their site or contact the participating stores to find out when their next Hop will be held.

Marie Osmond, who some of you possibly saw on Dancing with the Stars last year, is also a quilting enthusiast! She invites quilters to take the Marie Osmond Quilt Challenge! The Challenge offers a chance to win one of three wonderful prize packages each containing a Janome sewing machine, Quilting Treasures fabrics, Advantus storage accessories, Marie Osmond product(s) and much more.

You can download a copy of the application paperwork here from their website. Entries are due in by April 3, 2009.

We can help you plan & design your quilting project as well as help you through the construction phase. Give us a call at 518-695-4867 to see how we can be of help on this or any other sewing project.

Another quilting sleepover is being schedule for NEXT WEEK (Friday, Feb 6 – Saturday the 7th) at Christ the King Church in Greenwich, NY.

The quilts are again being made for charity. All levels of experience are welcome to participate in this highly successful event.

Look for mention of their group, the Kings Quilters, when you visit their website.

One of our students from the LIFTS program, Lexie, had entered her 2006 lap quilt project in the 2007 Washington County Fair. She received a number of honors for her work, including a blue ribbon from the fair, a green special award ribbin from the 4H program, and a monetary gift sponsored by a local business!

Lexie has been by recently to continue her work on her 2007 quilt which she plans to submit to the fair this year.

Congratulations & good luck to Lexie!

…is in the planning stages!

As with the other quilting sleepovers done at Christ the King Church in Greenwich, NY, the quilts are being made for charity..

Attendees will arrive on Friday and leave on Saturday afternoon.

We’ll be creating a “quilt as you go” quilt. We are looking to have approximately 26 people to create 26 individual quilts that can be completed before everyone leaves! The quilts from this session are to be donated to a children’s hospital.

If this is something that you would be interested in, please leave us a comment with your email or give us a call!

Last fall five members of our Monday Ladies group started “A Study in Blue” quilting project. As of today, Judy, Linda and I have finished ours and Donna’s quilt is in the finishing stages.

I am so proud of everyone for sticking it out for this project! Quilting was a new area for these ladies and as such took them out of their “comfort zones”. It was a learning process for everyone. Each week, during our Monday meetings, we’d plan out the next stage of the project. During the week, the ladies would work independently on their projects with everyone progressing at their own pace.

Everyone is already looking forward to our next project which is already in the works!

Congratulations ladies!

The LIFTS program is held each summer in August at the Greenwich High School. The program is offered for grammer school children in Washington County.

We have had the pleasure of providing sewing classes for LIFTS since 2003.
