We recently found a great place for groups to hold a retreat.  Check into Seyon Ranch State Park. It’s located in Groton, Vermont.

For more information you can call them 802 584-3829 or visit their website: www.vt stateparks.com

You can also send them a note at: seyon.ranch.park@state.vt.us

Their great facilities include:

  • Conference room for up to 50 people theater-style or 30 people at tables
  • 8 private and semi private guest rooms
  • Full meal service

This might be a perfect place for your rug hooking, knitting, quilting group getaway! And with the great fall foliage, what better time to schedule a getaway!

For those of you not able to make the trek to Vermont, we have a more local version of the Quilt Shop Hop here in upstate New York. A number of  stores within a two hour radius of Albany have banded together to offer a similar program. You can find our the store names & locations by visiting their website:  Seventh Annual Quilters’ Quest Shop Hop 2009

Check their site or contact the participating stores to find out when their next Hop will be held.

The 4th Annual Vermont Quilt Shop Hop (Vermont Shop Hop) was a tremendous amount of fun! My husbald and I went on a 3 day / 500+ mile tour of Vermont and visited fourteen (14) quilt shops around the state!

The 14 stores  selected a common Vermont Shop Hop design. Each store’s quilter then created their version or concept based on that common design. The quilts varied in color, positioning of the blocks, size, and shape. Some of the quilters also added their own personal twists to the basic design!

Participants entered contests, drawings for prizes and get a free pattern for one of the squares and obtain fabric related to the common design.

If you have a group of friends that enjoy quilting or are looking for an “excuse” to visit a number of beautiful locations in Vermont, the Shop Hop may be just the ticket!
